STORM BOATS / RESTORATION CHRIS CRAFT COMMANDER
This is one of the earliest models of fiberglass boats that Chris Craft built.
The deck on this boat had been painted on more than one occasion and a lot of the paint had been applied
with a roller or by brush and was so thick in some areas it was actually cracking. All of this paint
was removed before primer was sprayed. There were also a lot of areas of previous repair that
were never properly finished. Suprisingly, the most challenging part of this project were the motor
hatches. Partly because of the design and partly because they were both extremely warped. I still get
a big smile on my face when I look at the finished pictures and see how perfectly they set in there now.
A more complete story on this boat can be found on Macatawa Bay Boat Works website. http://mbbw.com/WIP/1969 commander
